In line with my last post about skincare bloggers you should be following , I have brought another installment of skincare info you should have at your fingertips. When talking of skincare , I’m sure there are people who do not know that there are made-in-Nigeria skincare brands. Well it’s my duty and pleasure to introduce you to these brands. I recently did a poll on my Instagram (follow the gyal) and I asked if you wanted to see more skincare content and 92% voted yes. So here I am obeying the commands I’ve been given by bringing you more skincare content. And to start that off I’m going to be introducing my favorite skincare influencers/bloggers. I have learnt so much about skincare from these beautiful women and I highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in skincare. I guarantee that you’ll learn a lot. valentines day pamper routine self-care rotine pamper day

Loving your neighbor is important but loving yourself is importanter. We’re in a season of love and the best way to be in a loving spirit is to show yourself ample love because when there’s love in your heart, you give out love freely to others. To me, the best way to show love to myself is to treat myself. A pamper day is very important to me. The beautiful thing about the pamper routine is that it can be as easy and as complicated as you’re feeling that day. You can have a simple movie and popcorn marathon or you can go all out and have a mani-pedi session, face mask, etc.  Today I’m going to be sharing my pamper routine when I’m really in the mood for some self-love as I know I will be on Valentine’s Day.

1) Turn on music and candles. Music uplifts your spirit and mood. I love to listen to blues, RnB and pop when I’m doing my pamper routine. My current fave song is Sojay’s Anniversary, you can listen to it .here Candles and soft music just sets the tone for the night.

2) Take off my makeup if I have on any that day. I take off my makeup with wipes and water but there are other effective ways of taking off makeup such as; micellar water (I'm yet to try this but when I do I’ll let you know how this works for me ). I personally can’t use coconut oil to take off my makeup because it makes me break out heavily but if your skin loves it, then go for it. 

3) Put on a face mask. Mud mask, sheet masks, peel off masks, there are so many types of masks in the market targeting different skin problems. Just get any you like and use. You can even try a DIY mask (I have an easy DIY mask post here). Keep the mask on for about 10-15 minutes then wash off. 

4) Take a hot bath or shower. After a long day, a shower or a bath is much needed. If you have a bathtub, soaking in a bubble bath is extremely calming but if you have just a shower or you’re not in the mood for a long bath then I highly recommend a hot shower. On days like these, I’ll typically go for a body scrub first. I currently have the Mayanga coffee body scrub (I love the scent of this stuff ). However, if you’re not willing to spend money on a body scrub, there are so many easy diy body scrub recipes on the web, just find one that you’ll love to try, it will most definitely not be a waste. After the scrub, I’ll shave if I feel like then continue with my normal bathtime routine.

5) Skincare routine. The rest of my skincare routine will typically follow after a bath. Toning and moisturizing my face and lips. If you’re confused about how to form a basic skincare routine, I have a post on how to create one here. 

6) Put on some comfy clothes and socks and pick a movie or a book to read. I’ll typically go for a baggy shirt and shorts and my long socks. It’s a very comfy combination. Then I’ll pick a movie or a book to read. I’m currently reading Crazy Rich Asians trilogy by Kelvin Kwan after seeing and falling in love with the movie( the book is 100 tines better than the movie). I’ll make myself a cup of tea and some snacks to go with my book. And I’ll do this until it’s time for bed.

That’s it!  My simple self-care pamper routine. Everything I’ve written here is what works for me, feel free to add or subtract as you wish. It’s just a source of inspiration if you’re thinking of pampering yourself. 

If you’re a single Pringle like me, here are some tips to survive Valentine’s Day on your own; 
• Stay off social media. It’s going to be filled with a lot of lovey dovey stuff. So if it’s going to get you in your feelings, just avoid it that day. 
• Buy yourself a gift that you would typically expect from someone. It could be anything at all , chocolate, flowers , a book. So long as you’ll appreciate it. 
• Show love to others. I plan on baking a cake for my family to eat. That’s what I can afford so I’m going to do just that and I know they’ll appreciate it.

Buns and batter is a relatively new restaurant in Port Harcourt. I had heard about them on social media but I had never gone. It is described as a bakery , breakfast and bistro. my friend and I decided to go out on one boring day and we decided to finally check out Buns and Batter.
